Lane H. Blumenfeld is an accomplished international business attorney with nearly two decades of in-house and private practice experience, including as general counsel and corporate secretary to both public and privately-held global communications and technology companies. Lane founded VIRTUAL In-House Counsel, PLLC to meet the demands of corporate clients for their outside counsel to act more like inside counsel, by offering practical, business-oriented solutions – at a reasonable price.

During his career, Lane has developed expertise across a wide range of areas, including commercial, corporate, securities, communications, and technology law and policy. Lane has served as general counsel and corporate secretary for Savvis, Inc., a publicly-held provider of cloud computing infrastructure services to over fifty countries, and as GC and secretary for Voxiva, Inc., a SaaS-based provider of interactive mobile health services.  He has also served in senior capacities for Teleglobe and Loral Orion, both of which were leaders in global communications.  Prior to his first in-house stint, Lane was an attorney at the international law firm Latham & Watkins.  Earlier in his career, Lane was country manager of a non-profit, USAID-funded project in Moscow, where he advised the Russian government on commercial law reform.  He has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and published articles in leading journals, including the ABA’s International Lawyer.

Lane holds a J.D. from the Yale Law School, a Masters in International Affairs, with concentrations in International Economics and Eurasian Studies, from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a B.A. magna cum laude, with a triple major in History, Government, and Russian Studies, from Cornell University.  At Cornell, Lane won the Chyrstall Prize for the best thesis on diplomacy.  He is licensed to practice law in both the District of Columbia and State of New York.
