Lane H. Blumenfeld
 
Lane H. Blumenfeld is an accomplished international business attorney, wilderness enthusiast, and active participant in non-profit organizations supporting children’s health, education, and recreation.
 
Mr. Blumenfeld is the managing attorney of Virtual In-House Counsel, pllc, a solo practice he founded to address corporate clients’ growing demand for their outside counsel to offer practical, business-oriented solutions – at a reasonable price. With extensive in-house experience, having served as general counsel and corporate secretary for both public and privately-held companies, he understands entrepreneurs’ need for fast, focused, and easily digestible answers.  Representing cutting-edge technology and communications service providers with global operations, Mr. Blumenfeld counsels clients on matters of commercial, transactional, corporate, securities, and technology law and policy. Earlier in his career, Mr. Blumenfeldwas resident director of a USAID-funded project in Moscow, where he advised the Russian government on commercial law reform, and later worked as an attorney at the law firm of Latham & Watkins.
 
Mr. Blumenfeldholds a J.D. from the Yale Law School, a Masters in International Affairs, with concentrations in International Economics and Russian Studies, from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a B.A. magna cum laude, with a triple major in History, Government, and Soviet Studies, from Cornell University. He is licensed to practice law in both the District of Columbia and State of New York.
 
Mr. Blumenfeldhas spoken at conferences around the world and published articles in leading journals on a diverse range of topics, including negotiation strategies, finance, international communications policy, and emerging market legal reform. He has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center.
 
Active in the Washington, DC community, Mr. Blumenfeld has served as president of the Georgetown Day School (GDS) alumni association and is a recipient of the school’s distinguished alumni award. An effective fundraiser, he led campaigns at GDS that doubled alumni donations and spearheaded efforts to create the school’s first alumni endowment. For Children’s National Medical Center, he has raised funds to provide US-based cardiac care to African kids. He has served on the Johns Hopkins University alumni advisory council and is a past board member of Northwest DC Little League.
 
An active outdoorsman, Mr. Blumenfeld has completed the National Outdoor Leadership School’s Outdoor Educator program and is certified as a Wilderness First Responder and Leave No Trace Master Educator.  During his free time, he hikes, bikes, roots for his local sports teams, and coaches youth baseball.  He lives in DC’s Palisades neighborhood with his wife Elizabeth, their two sons – Samuel and Zachary – and various dogs, birds, and lizards.
